God is my provider

Published by at 8:14 am under 1 Timothy,Philippians,Psalms,Romans

This weekend’s sermon by Pastor Rick and Tom Holladay is a very important one to me. It deals with money. It’s always been a problem in our family when it comes to dealing with the issues relating to money. It’s a cause for division, cause for arguments, cause for insecurities, cause of pain. In the message, the lack of money, or being in debt, is the focus of his sermon. God has a lot to say about managing my money. First and foremost, I must look to God when I have issues with money. I must trust God to provide for my needs. He gave me everything, in the first place, to glorify His name, as written in Romans 11:36

For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever!

Then Paul wrote in Philippians 4:19

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

God will meet all of my needs! Not wants, not desires, not indulgence. Needs! He never lets me astray. He never lets me down. If He does take things away from me, it’s because He’s testing my character.

I have to ask myself: who should I look for to get more money? Everything on this earth belongs to God. It’s not by my own talent or luck that I get more money. It all comes from God because it’s His to give in the first place. He is trusting His riches on earth to me so I may use it to help others. Money is a tool to do good.  As long as I use money to do God’s work, He will always provide for me.

Im sorry to say that although Ive known God in my life I have not found him to be the faithful provider that the Bible talks about.
I am on very low benefits and regularly have to make ends meet by going to shop bins in order to get food.
God may well provide the air I breathe and the life force inside me but the phrases in the Bible just dont match up to my experience.
If you are going to reply please dont come out with any trite comments like there are others less well off that me or blame me for not having enough faith,Im sick of Churches and other Christians using thease pat excuses in order to leave me in the lurch.
Im no longer prepared to thank God for food from bins when I am literally surrounded by non believers who can afford to live with dignity.
This state is not glorifying to God and Im very tempted to give up trying to live a life pleasing to God as it really is a futile waste of my life.

    Hi Tony,

Thank you for your comment. I understand your frustration with life and how sometimes it feels God is not there for you. I’ve been in your situation before, where things just don’t work out the way I expected, and life seemed so difficult. I’ve been in dead-ends and disappointed by people, including those who claimed they’re Christians.

But there’s one thing I learned from my walk with God: He wants to save me. My salvation is the reason why He sent Jesus to die for me. I’m a sinner and I must realize that I needed to be saved. The way to my salvation is through my faith. You may think it sounds like a poor excuse, or a “trite”, but faith is the basis of my salvation. The bible always teaches me to have faith in God such as Hebrews 11:1-6, Mark 4:35-43, Psalms 24:4-5, etc.

When I trust God, then He will bless me. The more faith I have, the more blessing I’ll receive. God loves me, and He loves you too, even when we don’t return the love. My priority is to want the salvation from God and have faith – the rest God will provide.

I’ll pray for you and ask God to send His provision for your life.

Thankyou for your response. It is good to know that there are still christians who tell it like it is .
My faith has fallen to pieces in the last year, not that it was anything special.
Faith may well come from hearing the word of God but our self image and life experiences also dictate how far we can go with God.
To me if you have had a loving family you can relate to God in a much fuller way than people like me.I have never met my father and cannot get the angle on Gods love in that area.
Although I have known God for over 20 years most of that has been,as far as Im concerned a waste of my life,I have had people mock me for years who have had families decent incomes, etc, while I have been either homeless or in dire accomodation.
To me anyone who says that they love you and want to provide, including God have set a precedent to which they should stick.I cant get my head around a God who needs me to tell them my every need or go begging to him for essentials,Britain is a first world country.
Im 43 now and Im not prepared to go any further in this direction in life, frankly if satan appeared with a million quid and a promise that I would live for another 20 years in health he could have my soul.
Tha last 20 years with God have been garbage.I have seen so much falshood in the name of Jesus that I now openly hate him im sorry if this upsets you and I hope you continue with God.Ive tried countless times to go on but im totally sick of wasting my time being a poor outcast in life.
Im surrounded by crime, drugs, prostitution, etc and lets face it even if I did end up in nick at least I would eat properly.
I really do thankyou for being there maybe you could pray that God gets his finger out in my lifew but I dont want him or his poxy ways anymore.

    Hi Anthony,

I thank you for sharing your story with me. I do pray for you, and ask God to guide you in your life. Give God a chance to change your life. Let Him in your heart and let Him transform you. When you trust that He will safe you, you will gain the riches that He promised. Don’t sell yourself short to devil because his promise is temporary. God’s promise is eternal.

I’ll be here if you need to talk to me. Don’t give up the good fight!

So have faith!!.. Believe in God!!.. He cares!!..

God is God. Whether we live in plenty or lack doesn’t change His position. He loves us unconditionally. He is looking for those who will also follow Him unconditionally. This is evidence that we are His. God Bless
