Hey Joe, I would recommend brands like Sharp, LG, and Samsung for affordability and quality. On a higher end, you can try Sony, Mitsubishi, and Toshiba. You can refer to my previous post on 120 Hz TV recommendations.

Hi Rudy, I had a Philips plasma for 7 years it had a lot of nice features like 2 tuner pip and split screen with lots of controls. I only got about 9000 hours out of it, 1/2 the the stated life so I won’t be going with Philips or plasma. I’m going with a 46 or 47″ lcd set and I think you’ve convince me to go 120hz vs 60, but I can get a 2nd smaller lcd for the price difference. Is there a brand you’d recommend and do you know of one that has 2 tuners.

Hi Steve,

IMHO, you can get the 120-Hz TV for less than $2000 now, so that should be a good enough upgrade from your ancient TV. The 240 Hz one will take some time to drop in price – still at $4000+.

As for the site loading problem: I think it might have something to do with the “Lijit” search widget I just installed earlier today. It may not be compatible with IE6. By the way, IE6 should die already.

hi Rudy, We still have an old CRT-type TV. I've been putting off getting a flat screen TV for a while now because the prices just keep coming down. Now I decided maybe I'll finally get one for Christmas, and then I read this post! Now you've just given me a reason to keep waiting. ~ Steve (aka the trade show guru) PS. I usually use IE6 because I'm used to it and all my bookmarks are on it. When I try to get to your blog now IE6 loads it, shows an error box ("Internet Explorer cannot load site"), and then says page not found. I got here this time with Firefox. Just FYI.
