A Lesson is a Lesson

April 23rd, 2007 · 5 Comments

From my earlier post about taking golf lesson at Anaheim Hills GC, I just attended my third (out of 4) lessons on short game.  Normally, group lessons are not that great considering one instructor has to look at multiple people (in my case, 6 others) within the hour.  He won’t have time to really look at my swing in particular and point out my faults.  However, last weekend I got lucky because the other 5 people had something to do and was absent, so I was left with one other person in the group.  Now the instructor has time to look at my swing in more detail, and since we were doing pitch shots, he managed to see my full swing as well — which apparently needed some work.  He told me to fully extend my left arm and setup my shoulder, arms, and legs properly.  He also dispelled the myth that I have to put my weight on the left feet when hitting wedges.  He just told me to square up and don’t think about my feet/legs too much.  The rest of the swing just fell into place once my setup was fixed.   I intend to practice this more later in the range.  There goes a few hundred more balls (and dollars) spent on getting out my bad habits!  I guess it’s true that I should’ve gotten lessons BEFORE starting the game.

I predict the following very soon: Paper Tiger < The Shark < The Turtle

Using The Shark’s sarcastic response: “Yeah, right!”

I thought the Shark’s usual sarcastic response is “It’s a pleasure doing business with you”?

I thought the “It’s a pleasure doing business with you”
    is LK’s comment.

Well, it originated from me, but The Shark has used it on more occasions than me :p
