Keeping at it

Dad Miller GC SceneI don’t have many chances to play a full round of golf every year due to family commitments.  I have some free time in the next 3 weeks, before the big game(s) with my dad in Bali in August.  I wanted to start practicing on the course and today I had my first round at Dad Miller GC.  I never scored well (best score I got was 118) and today was no exception.  In this round, my “rust” started to show in the front 9, where I did mostly double-par (yes, snowmen look alikes).  But I just want to highlight my best shots, as best as I could remember them, since they are rare in my case.  For example, in Hole 11, I hit a nice pitching wedge to 100 yards pin front right. Left me with a 5′ putt for a chance of birdie, which I missed and settled for a par.  Then finally at the last, Par 5 - 495 yards - hole 18, I hit a great tee shot past everyone in my group and followed them up with an ok 2 hybrid long shots, chipped in with my 8-iron, and ended it with a 1-putt from about 8 feet.

That’s pretty much it… par’ed only two holes!  The rest are mostly double-bogey or worse.  As I said before, sometimes I don’t know why I like this game with such dismal performance.  Maybe it’s such a loner and introspective sport, I find that rather appealing.  Maybe one day it’ll come together, meanwhile I’ll just keep at it.
