We went to Chick-Fil-A yesterday. It was a warm sunny day when we talked about:
- We should regularly work-out in a gym. Everyone’s liking LA Fitness. I get a good work-out on a golf driving range.
- Toshiba HD-DVD A35 for $150 at Best Buy. Cheap 1080p up-conversion DVD player, with 6 speakers TrueHD analog outputs for those without a receiver that does TrueHD.
- Irvine’s OC Great Park project looks like it’s not moving along. The trees are lined up but not planted yet. They’ve been sitting there for at least 6 months. We speculated due to the slump in housing market in the area. But the website says they’re moving on schedule. The marketing pamphlet doesn’t tell us anything.
- Start up cost for Chick-Fil-A franchise is allegedly $5000. Does it include building lease, construction, etc?

Of all of the places away from home I’ve eaten chicken, I think Chick-Fil-A is my most favorite! I’m assuming that $5,000 doesn’t include building lease or construction though =T

Maybe the return for running the franchise is so good, the owner ends up paying only $5000 in a short period time. Oh well, time to ask the real business folks with the inside scoop.

I love Chick Fil A! I looked into a franchise while I was in college. Back then you paid money for the right to operate one of their stores. So technically you didn’t own it as much as you just had a designated site that you operated. They had an interesting business structure.

Taken from Google Answers -
“How is a Chick-fil-A® Operator compensated?
All Operators have the same contractual arrangement. Each month, the
Operator pays Chick-fil-A Inc., 15% of gross sales and 50% of net
profits. Chick-fil-A Operators are assured a minimum income of $30,000
annually. Operators do not build equity in the business, and their
contractual agreement is not transferable.”
