Lunch Bits - Edition 17

June 20th, 2008 · 4 Comments

We went to Curry House this week.  It was a very warm day when we talked about:

  • A co-worker likes sprint car racing.  Pretty expensive hobby, but it looks like a lot of fun.
  • The laugh out loud movies: Dumb and Dumber, Borat, Harold and Kumar, and Eddie Murphy movies up to Beverly Hills Cop.
  • The heat wave above 95F.  California feels like Las Vegas.
  • Las Vegas’ hotels are suppose to be cheap now due to the sagging economy and the heat wave.
  • Britain’s Got Talent 2008 front runner with a beautiful moving voice for a 6 year old: Connie Talbot
  • When’s a good age for kids to have a cell phone or iPod?  Popular consensus is during middle-school (Junior High) age of 11 or 12 years old.  Otherwise, it’s just too soon.
  • New menu choice: Curry Set
  • Busy weekend last week with both Basketball and Golf US Open championships.

Yep, have to agree cell phones at any age below 11 or 12 is just silly. No iPods before 35y

LOL. No iPod before 35 years old? I had a Sony walkman when I was 12. Recording and collecting those music tapes were the fun part of walkmans. I’m guessing iPod owners feel the same.

Wow, 11-12 seems young to have an Ipod or a cell! I’m 25 and have neither

    Hi Zhu,
An iPod, Walkman, or any portable music player serves a purpose of entertaining me while I’m doing something mundane like mowing the lawn, waiting in a bus stop, traveling on the subway, jogging/walking, etc. Kids these days use it as a “badge of honour” or bragging rights - latest and greatest shiny new gadget. I believe that’s what’s wrong with kids having such a thing.
