Almost a month since my Honda Civic Hybrid 2003 got into a major accident, and now deemed totally useless by the insurance company. Sad day indeed. The car had at least 3 more years of life. It could’ve saved me a bunch of money in gas, maintenance, insurance, and loan payments. When someone said a car is a liability, that’s such an understatement.

Thanks, I’m glad to be in one piece. Can’t say the car was entirely in one piece though.
Glad you got new, drivable wheels and are (hopefully) A-OK after the wreck last month. That sucks on all fronts. I wonder what they’ll sell the battery for as salvage. If you’d gotten another Civic Hybrid, you could have removed that and kept it as an emergency backup (kidding, mostly, since these batts have a shelf life and want to be used so one really doesn’t want to just store one for ages, esp. not one that’s been used for years already.)

Hi Shannon,
I don’t think those guys can salvage the major parts, except maybe the front brakes and interiors. The battery had problems. The catalytic converter had problems. Another salvage point is the car pool lane sticker, they may get SOMETHING for that.
I doubt I’ll be getting a new Hybrid at today’s prices (plus markup), and the still relatively low cost of gas.
